Middle Sister Summit Attempt #1 - 9/6/2020-9/7/2020

Middle Sister is a 10,046' mountain in Central Oregon. You can take a trail about two thirds of the way up, then you can follow a ridge line to the summit from there. I attempted to summit via the North Ridge route. Unfortunately I failed to summit due to navigation failures.

It took me two additional tries to successfully summit. You can see those pictures here and here.

You can see the Middle Sister and North Sister in the distance The first few miles go through a burnt forest It was a no rainfly night! No one stole my food! Cooking breakfast The view from my campsite About an hour into the climb I got a clear view of Middle Sister (left) and North Sister (right) South Sister North Sister Middle Sister with Prouty Point to the right The Hayden Glacier The Hayden Glacier One of the more frustrating things about the hike was all the boulder hopping. 8200-8800' was the worst. Eventually there's a snowfield you can climb My knees loved this! Those aren't clouds. That's smoke from forest fires. Middle Sister I climbed up this way, which was the wrong way and I had to turn back. The forest fires on the way home were crazy!
