Middle Sister Summit Attempt #2 - 9/26/2020-9/27/2020

This time I attempted to summit via the SE Ridge. There were a number of failures here. The striking surface on my match box was completely worn out, so I couldn't light my stove in the morning. I also ran into navigation problems again, and I turned back at about 9,000'. Even if I had managed to get higher, I heard that the last part was inaccessible without crampons, which I didn't have.

You can see pictures from my previous summit attempt here and a later summit attempt here.

The hike begins! Hoping the weather holds up! There was a little drizzle, but the weather never got too bad. This is where I camped the first time I tried to climb this mountain The weather started to deteriorate a little as I got closer to the campsite Camp Lake It's not obvious in this picture, but it was pretty windy up here, and that's with a large hill partially protecting my campsite. Vestibules make me happy Putting my vestibule to good use The next morning I tried and failed to make oatmeal. I was unable to light any of my matches. South Sister in the morning South Sister and Camp Lake a few minutes into Day 2 Lots of boulder hopping again You have to get to the top of this table somehow. I was following some shady GPS tracks and ended up trying to climb this way. I got pretty close to the top before having to turn back I eventually found another way. The climb got considerably easier after this. North Sister Middle Sister, shortly before turning back. South Sister This is a great view of the table I was trying to climb at the beginning of the hike. I intially tried to climb straight up it, then realized I could go around. Camp Lake! Heading back.
