German Road Trip 2016

Mindy and I drove from Munich to Bremen.

This is the route we took. It ended up being two full days of driving and sightseeing. We drove up to a lake in the Alps called Walchensee There's also a village up there called Walchensee. Had lunch at this restaurant. Mindy had spaetzle for lunch, which is basically German macaroni and cheese. Driving through a little German village somewhere in the Alps Neuschwanstein Castle As we drove in, a random stranger guy flagged us down and offered us his parking ticket, which we reused and saved 6 Euro! We hiked up to the castle, although we didn't go inside The best place to view the castle is from Mary's Bridge. Unfortunately, Mary's Bridge was closed. Boooo! It turns out that you can climb up a hill, up an informal path, and get great views of the castle from the top of the hill A few others had a similar idea Neuschwanstein Castle from the top of the hill There's another castle nearby called Hohenschwangau Neuschwanstein Castle has WiFi. We live in the future! It rained extremely hard on our way out of Neuschwanstein Castle Fortunately a couple of hours later things cleared up. Great conditions for driving on the autobahn! We spent the night in a little town called Rothenberg. This is the view from our hotel room. Rothenberg is almost completely empty at night, it's great Rothenberg is a walled city with several protective towers You can walk along the walls of Rothenberg The walls have a number of holes like this Mindy found this little pottery shop in Rothenberg We ended up buying a number of things here Raw pork and onions, served on bread Mindy cruising down the autobahn at 168 kph (104 mph) I was surprised by the number of solar panels I saw Unfortunately, the autobahn has lots of gridlock I managed to get our rental car up to 190 kph (118 mph) We made it to Bremen!
